Is the Mardome Smoke Vent EN 12101-2 certified?
Yes. The Brett Martin Mardome Smoke Vent is fully certified in accordance with EN 12101-2:2003 as a natural smoke and heat exhaust ventilator, and is manufactured in the UK. It provides certified smoke and heat exhaust as well as comfort ventilation, with full test documentation available to support building control submissions.
Is the Mardome Smoke Vent non-fragile?
The Mardome is tested to be non-fragile, achieving Class B non-fragile to ACR[M]001 when new and fully installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. This rating applies to the complete unit as installed, so correct installation to Brett Martin’s instructions is essential to maintain the non-fragile classification on the roof.
Can the Mardome be used as an access hatch as well?
Yes. The Mardome can be configured as a dual-purpose access hatch via an offset opening mechanism, repositioning the actuator to one side so you can step through onto the roof. Specify this at order — the standard configuration places the actuator centrally, which makes roof access through the unit impractical.
What glazing options does the Mardome Smoke Vent offer?
The Mardome is available as double or triple skin polycarbonate, in clear, textured or opal options, giving a large daylight and ventilation area with a low-profile dome. Triple skin improves thermal performance. Optional wind deflectors enhance aerodynamic ventilation performance, and a 10-year warranty is available on the unit.
How is the Mardome Smoke Vent triggered?
The Mardome opens on a signal from the smoke control panel, which can be triggered by manual override switches local to the vent and at ground floor, by dedicated smoke detectors, or by interfacing with a third-party fire alarm system. It opens up to 140° in under 60 seconds on activation.
What is the lead time on a Mardome Smoke Vent?
Standard delivery is 10–15 working days, dispatched direct from Brett Martin. The Mardome is available in a wide range of standard sizes and made-to-measure options; for bespoke sizes the exact lead time is confirmed at drawing sign-off. Order ahead of first fix to keep the roofing programme on track.
